Join us at Leila Arboretum on Saturday, FebruHairy 10th, for Festivus 2024: The Cardboard Sled Competition, and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of cardboard sledding at Leila Arboretum from 1 - 5 p.m.
Hot dogs, chili, hot chocolate and adult beverages available for purchase!
Sled registration begins at the Arboretum at 1 p.m., sleds run at 2:30 p.m.
Prizes will be announced and awarded after all sleds run.

FESTIVUS 2024: THE CARDBOARD SLED COMPETITION RULES
1. It's a CARDBOARD sled race. Sleds must be constructed using cardboard, adhesive, and paint ONLY
2. Registration begins at 1 p.m.
3. Must show valid I.D. to purchase adult beverages
4. Safety first: Sledding is inherently dangerous. EVERYONE MUST
SIGN A WAIVER. SLED AT YOUR
OWN RISK!!! ***HELMETS ENCOURAGED***
5. Must be present to receive prize award.
6. HAVE FUN!!! We take our FUNraisers VERY seriously.

Due to the altered structure of this event, because of the situation this past year, the BCMAMS will be providing funds for prizes and other necessities, but receiving no revenue. If you have the means to help, we hope you consider making a donation and contribute to help us continue to throw fun community events for many years to come.
Festivus DonationFestivus 2020: The Cardboard Sled Race
BCMAMS would like to extend a warm thank you to all who attended the 2020 Festivus/Cardboard Sled Race. From our estimations, there were over 700 participants and spectators this year. The MAMS handed out 16 trophies to our best and brightest sleds, while patrons sampled tasty fare and locally brewed beers. Additionally, we were visited by The Battle Creek Rumble Bees Hockey Team, who showered us with some wonderful Star Wars goodies.
Sled builders brought their awesome creativity and handcrafted sleds to the Festivus scene. Included was a giant Smore, a Baby Yoda Mobile, and the Bat Mobile. There was also a Friend Ship and a Flying Saucer among the lot. Pizza Sams graciously provided pizza boxes for our pizza box race.
This year's servings included chili, hotdogs, and brats, prepared by Blackmarket Smokehouse, while Territorial Brewing Company supplied the event with some of it's most tantalizing brews. Folks were able to warm up with our housemade coffee, and hot chocolate. As always, hotdogs were doled out, free-of-charge, to our youngest attendees.
Our event was sponsored by some terrific local businesses and people including Plumeria Botanical Boutique, Penetrator Events, Sprout, BTL Axe, Aunt Pat, Home Pro Roofing, Gardner Brothers Lawn Care, Discount Tire, and The Cannabar. Both BCMAMS and Leila Arboretum Society is grateful for your contributions to our community.
BCMAMS volunteers work hard to plan and put on these events because we believe Battle Creek is worth the effort. It truly takes a village. Together, we were able to raise money for BCMAMS, as well as, Leila Arboretum. This money is essential so that we can continue to provide good, unique and family-friendly fun in our City. BCMAMS appreciates your participation and generosity. Kudos to you, Battle Creek for another successful Festivus. See you next year!
2019 FESTIVUS SLED RACE
Our 11th annual Festivus was our best year yet!! Thank you, Battle Creek, for an amazing turnout! With over 700 people in attendance and 65 sleds this year, the weather worked out perfectly for us to watch a wide array of sleds ripping down the hill.
From P51 Mustang jet fighters to giant Gold Fishes, even a huge Pop Tart, the creativity of the sleds each year never ceases to amaze. In the end, we handed out 12 of our signature handcrafted trophies along with BCMAMS merchandise and a brand new toboggan.
We have to say a big thank you to Leila Arboretum for their 11 years of partnership. Scott Wright's chili and Cafe Rica's coffee kept everyone warm. Territorial Brewing Company generously donated delicious beer for us all to enjoy. Gardner Brothers Landscape was on standby to deliver snow again for us but luckily Mother Nature brought her own this year.
The BCMAMS would like to thank all who came out and enjoyed another great year of sledding. None of this would be possible without our great community.
FESTIVUS 2018
The 10th Annual Festivus Cardboard Sled Race was a huge success! The Event had a great turnout with approximately 500 people in attendance and nearly 60 sleds. Because father winter didn’t fully cooperate, our trusty friends at Gardner Brother Landscape shipped in some snow so our participants could have a slipping and sliding good time.
We gave away over 20 prizes including many hand carved wooden trophies, gift certificates from Malia Mediterranean Bistro and other eateries alike, a Sprout Box raffled off, and some BCMAMS Merchandise to name a few.
Although the snow wasn’t plentiful, this year’s range of eclectic sleds certainly were. Ranging from a Crayola crayon to a detail oriented Funny car dragster, this year’s sleds did not disappoint. We hung out, ate chili, drank beer, stayed warm by the camp fires, and laughed until our bellies hurt. This year’s event was one of the best and would not have been possible without the help of many community partners.
We would like to thank Leila Arboretum for their 10-year partnership in this and other events that we co-sponsor. Atlas distributing and Territorial Brewing Co. for their help in donating and distributing the beverages. Black Market Smoke House did a great job, as always, making his signature chili recipes for the participants enjoyment. Lastly, we want to give a HUGE thank you to all the community members and participants that made a cardboard sled or just came out and enjoyed a fun winter day with us.
